How It Works

Composting made easy in only three simple steps

Tools For Success

  • Bucket

Using your bucket as a measuring tool, will help you to form your own recipe and ratios of greens and browns (e.g. 1 bucket kitchen waste with 1 bucket browns).

  • Spade

A spade is essential when mixing your greens and browns, every time you are loading material use a hand spade to give it a good mix into the top layer of composting waste.

  • Observing

This is your most useful tool, feeling how hot your bin is, seeing the moisture levels and noticing the smells will give you indications into how your waste is composting.

Getting Started

Base of Twigs

This creates a mesh that allows easier drainage for your liquid fertiliser and less debris falling into the tank.

Inoculate

Adding compost or a bucket of healthy nearby soil will add all the right microorganisms into your bin.

The Aerobin does all the hard work, all you need to do is feed it

Kitchen Waste

1. Open and hook your lid on the side of the Aerobin

2. Add your bucket of kitchen waste

3. Add the same size bucket of browns, with another bucket of green garden waste if available

4. Mix thoroughly in the top of the Aerobin

Garden Waste

1. Put all your Garden waste on the floor

2. Ensure equal amounts of green garden waste (mix grass thoroughly if used) and brown garden waste

3. Mix with a fork on the floor

4. Open and hook your lid on the side of the Aerobin and add material

Mix Mix Mix

Mixing: Smaller Loads

Kitchen waste is less bulky than garden waste, this can be mixed with browns directly in the top of the Aerobin with your hand spade.

Mixing: Large Loads

Garden waste is always bulky, this should be mixed outside the Aerobin and loaded into the top.

WHEN IT ALL REALLY FEELS WORTH IT

Harvesting

Compost

After 8 - 12 weeks, your mix of greens and browns will have turned into beautiful compost.

The Aerobin has two harvest doors that allow you to access your compost from either side.

Once harvested, you can use this compost in your garden, pot plants or anywhere that needs a boost.

Liquid Fertiliser

During composting, all your green materials release water as they decompose. This is caught in the catchment tank underneath the Aerobin and can be harvested from the tap on the bottom.

This is a rich liquid fertiliser that can be diluted with water in a watering can and spread throughout your garden, for happier, healthier plants.
